Four Voices: The Secret Language of Inner Wisdom

Are you ready to stop the cycle of self-doubt and confusion? Would you love to learn a reliable strategy for using the secret wisdom hidden within you? Are you ready to finally feel confident when making important decisions?

In this 6-week self-guided online training, you will learn to interpret the secret language hidden within you. You’ll learn how to reliably feel confident in your decisions, and how to permanently build self-trust.

Every day you are faced with problems, questions, and decisions. Some of these are big—Am I in the right relationship? How exactly should I parent my teenager? Should I change careers or just try harder in this one? Some of these are small—What should I wear? What should I cook for dinner? Should I do yoga or a take a nap?

Regardless of whether you’re at life-changing crossroads, or making an inconsequential decision, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. Maybe you’re dealing with a particularly loud inner-critic, maybe you’re not sure how you actually feel, or maybe you’re simply not able to understand where the signs are pointing.

If you don’t know how to rely on your inner wisdom—the language of your Four Voices—you end up in a spin-cycle feeling confused, paralyzed, and anxious. This course is gives you a compass, a clear direction forward, and a step-by-step path to follow.

In this course you will learn about a powerful built-in navigation system, a fail-proof tool to help you steer your life. You’re probably already aware of your inner voice, and maybe you already use it.

But, the question is: Which inner voice are you listening to?

There’s the Mind Voice who’s trying to make everything predictable and safe. There’s the Heart Voice who’s relaying directions through a vast range of emotions. There’s the Body Voice who’s driven by animal instincts. And then there’s the Soul Voice that propels you to live the fullest expression of who you are. Each of these Four Voices holds its own sense of direction, a unique piece of the puzzle, and its own corner of the map. This complex inner guidance system, what I call the Four Voices, has evolved within humans over thousands of years. When used together, the Four Voices become a powerful inner-guidance system.

It’s fascinating. It’s reliable. It works.

Here's what you'll learn...

Week One: Introduction to the Four Voices

I want you to get started on the good stuff right away so I put together an introduction section that gives you powerful tools right from the get go. As soon as you register, you’ll gain full access to the course. Each module contains several short videos (typically 10-15 minutes each) where I teach you a new concept. I want this course to be as valuable and as helpful as possible, so I’ve made it very easy to move through the course step by step. Within the first few minutes of the course, you’ll get a powerful visual demonstration of how the Four Voices work and how they interact with one another.

Introduction to the Four Voices and How They Work

First, I’ll use a car to demonstrate how the Four Voices work. You’ll learn who’s in the front seat, who’s in the back, who’s sitting shotgun, and who is driving. Through this image, ou’ll learn about each of the Four Voices: Mind, Heart, Body, and Soul. Right away you’ll learn how each each voice communicates, why you end up confused, and how to start using your inner wisdom wellness.

The Art of Wayfinding

Confused? Lost? Unsure? Since time began, people have had to learn various navigation skills to help them find their way through unknown territory. In this section you’ll learn more about your inner guidance and how to use the Art of Wayfinding by learning to listen to each of your inner voices—Mind, Heart, Body and Soul.

  • Each module includes a bonus yoga practice. This is a way to embody what you’ve learned and to take the concepts into a physical space. These short (10 minute) sequences, bring the work out of your Mind and into your Body.

  • Each module includes a bonus meditation practice. Each meditation is a short guided practice to help you take what you’ve learned and apply it to real life. These short (10 minute) practices, show you how to practically use the tools and concepts to bring clarity to your life.

Week Two: The Mind Voice

From criticisms, to judgments, to future worries, or re-enacting scenarios from the past, the Mind voice often clutters your perception, confusing you and making it difficult to navigate the present. In this section, you’ll learn how to recognize the Mind Voice, and how it functions.

Allowing Mind to Guide You

Once you can easily identify the Mind Voice, I’ll show you how to use this voice for navigation—giving you a detailed overview of Mind’s portion of the map—and show you how to use it while you’re in the driver’s seat.

When Mind Takes Over

Next, I’ll also show you what happens when you’re asleep in the backseat, and your anxious Mind starts wildly steering the car.

  • To find your own way, you start by looking within through the practice of inquiry. This art of asking questions helps to clarify the message of each voice. It helps you to understand the meaning, advice or direction that the voice offers you. Once you have a general understanding of the voice’s message, you can use its wisdom for navigation. To conclude this section, I’ll share a tool to help you deepen your connection to the Mind Voice so that you can fine tune your inner navigation system.

Week Three: The Heart Voice

The voice of the heart is subtle, and often wordless. The heart translates our experiences into emotions, and if we are listening, we feel, rather than hear our path forward. In this section, you’ll learn how to interpret the Heart Voice through the language of emotion .

the voice of the heart is the language of your emotions

Allowing Heart to Guide You

I’ll show you what happens when you are connected and use the voice of the Heart for navigation, how each feeling offers you feedback and guidance.

When You Can’t Handle Your Heart

I’ll also show you what happens when you can’t handle your heart and try to silence it, and also what happens when you jump in the backseat and let the voice of the heart drive your life.

  • Learn to use the wisdom of your Heart Voice through the practice of inquiry. Inquiry helps you to clarify the Heart’s message, and to determine the advice or direction that the voice offers you. I’ll share a tool to help you deepen your connection to the Heart Voice so that you can fine tune your inner navigation system.

Week Four: The Body Voice

Your body is an animal. The Body Voice is the voice of that animal—the information that comes not only from the tangible part of your body—through pain, pleasure, sensations, hunger, thirst, energy, exhaustion; but also the information that comes through the instinctual, intangible wisdom that has evolved over eons to help you survive.

Allowing Body to Guide You

In this section, you’ll learn basic tools to help you listen and respond to the voice of your body. You’ll learn how it works, how to recognize it, and how it influences your experience.

The Weird Thing About Pain

I’ll show you what happens when you check out and let Body drive your life. You’ll learn how to wake up and chart your course when Body has taken the wheel.

  • Through inquiry, you’ll first learn to take an inventory of your body’s current needs. Then, you’ll learn how use this information for body-based wisdom. I’ll share a tool to help you deepen your connection to the Body Voice so that you can fine tune your inner navigation system.

Week Five: The Soul Voice

The Soul Voice is the intangible essence of your being. This voice knows who you are beyond your ego, your programmed beliefs, your mind, your emotions, or even your body. This is the voice that is connected not only to the deepest and truest sense of who you really are—but is also simultaneously connected to who you’ve always been and who you will become.

Allowing Soul To Guide You

Learn three powerful and reliable ways that the Soul Voice communicates with you. Learn how your soul knows where it wants to be. Learn why you need to listen to the voice of the Soul and how it often sounds like a compassionate adult speaking to a small child.

Dark Night of the Soul

The dark night of any soul doesn’t happen quickly, nor does it happen suddenly. Your eyes adjust as the light slowly dims. It happens so gradually, you don’t even realize until it’s too late—until you’re standing in complete darkness with no inner flame to light your path. Learn how to navigate when your inner light seems to have gone dark. I’ll show you how to find your way when you can’t seem to rely on your Soul.

  • The practice of inquiry—the art of asking questions—helps you to clarify the Soul’s message, and determine the advice or direction that the voice offers you. Learn how to rely on soul-based wisdom. I’ll share a tool to help you deepen your connection to the Soul Voice so that you can fine tune your inner navigation system.

Week Six: Bringing the Four Voices Together

By bringing together all Four Voices—Mind, Heart, Body and Soul—you have access to the wisdom of your whole self. By eliminating the clutter of the mind, following the feedback offered through your emotions, caring for the animal of your body, and honoring your inner flame, you're able to use your inner maps and compass for reliable guidance. As we move through the next section, you'll learn how to navigate using the wisdom of all Four Voices.

the four voices are your inner wisdom compass

Making a Decision

In the last section, we will put all of the tools together. First you’ll learn how to use the Four Voices for a small decision. Something like, “Should I go for a walk?” With practice, you’ll have the tools rely on your inner-compass to guide you through any decision, big or small.

Point B

As you follow your Four Voices and begin living as your whole self, life itself will unfold in front of you. Once you make a decision, a new question arises. With that, a new decision must be made. In this final section, learn how the Four Voices shape the course you take as you journey through life.

  • Learn how to use this step by step method so that you have a clear direction for any decision. As you practice your skills, you’ll get better at reading the nuances of your inner voices. You’ll become more aware of your patterns, and you’ll have a better understanding of which voices tend to offer you the best information.

Who teaches Four Voices?

The entire course is taught by me, Meadow DeVor. I'm the best-selling author of The Worthy Project. Since 2007, I've been a coach, author, and personal development teacher specializing in tools to build self-worth. I have a popular self-worth podcast and blog, and I've had the privilege of being a guest on The Oprah Winfrey Show.

I speak, write and coach extensively on how self-worth relates to deeply personal and spiritual issues that go far beyond self-image and confidence. I believe that our relationship to life itself is an exact reflection of our deepest held beliefs about our own worth—and that the stronger your boundaries, the stronger your self-worth. Since 2013, I have taught the Four Voices in my trainings (yoga teacher trainings and coach trainings), private coaching sessions, and online courses.

I live on a ranch in Big Sur, California with my husband, our dogs, and bunch of chickens.

What’s the investment?

The tools? Priceless. Really. How can I possibly quantify the dollar value of being able to rely on your own inner wisdom, knowing a reliable method for making any decision (big or small), or finally being free of self-doubt and confusion? It's impossible!

The outcome? Limitless. This work starts with your relationship to each of your inner voices but also affects your home, your relationships, the way you carry yourself in this world. Your inner-guidance affects your entire life - therefore there's simply no way to put a value on what you will get from doing this work.

For a limited time, you get lifetime access to The Four Voices Self-Guided Course for $297.

    1. The Mind Voice—this voice is trying to make everything predictable and safe. From criticisms, to judgments, to future worries, or re-enacting scenarios from the past, the Mind voice often clutters your perception, confusing you and making it difficult to navigate the present.

    2. The Heart Voice—the voice of the heart through the language of emotion. The heart’s voice is subtle, and often wordless. The heart translates our experiences into emotions, and if we are listening, we feel, rather than hear our path forward.

    3. The Body Voice—this voice is driven by animal instincts and communicates through physical sensations. The body’s voice communicates through the animal of your human body. Its voice is driven by instinct and has evolved over eons to help you alive and thriving.

    4. The Soul Voice—propels you to live the fullest expression of who you are.

Each of these Four Voices holds its own sense of direction, a unique piece of the puzzle, and its own corner of the map. This complex inner guidance system, what I call the Four Voices, has evolved within humans over thousands of years. When used together, the Four Voices become a powerful inner-guidance system.

  • Inner wisdom is defined as knowledge that comes from developing trust in yourself by quieting outer distractions, and listening to each of the Four Voices. These voices—Mind Voice, Heart Voice, Body Voice, and Soul Voice—each offer distinct feedback and guidance. Together, they can be used as a compass to guide your life using your own inner wisdom.

  • Even though individuals have their own unique experience, it’s almost universal that everyone has a voice in their head. The Mind Voice is easy to spot because it sounds like a person in your head. It speaks in words, thoughts, and beliefs. It speaks in sentences, questions, and sidebar commentary. It can mimic voices from your past—it might do a brilliant impression of your mother, or your second grade teacher, or your ex-husband. It can grab pieces of past conversations—usually the things you wished you could forget—and embed them in your head like a Katy Perry song, replaying them over and over.

Even though this voice often sounds like your own voice, it’s not you speaking. The voice is not your voice. The Mind Voice is merely a software system running strategies to control and predict possible threats. The voice isn’t personal. It isn’t against you, trying to hurt your feelings, or trying to sabotage you. It’s not really for you either. The Mind Voice is simply a ticker tape of thoughts, sentences, and conversation on an everlasting loop.

  • Here are the 4 ways to cultivate inner wisdom:

    1. Thought Inquiry—you can develop inner wisdom by questioning the voice of your mind—your thoughts and beliefs. This means that you don’t take your thoughts at face value, rather you determine the validity of the thought, whether it’s true or not, and imagine other possible beliefs that might be beneficial.

    2. Emotional Inquiry—you can develop inner wisdom by exploring the emotions that you feel. Your emotions give you genuine and real-time feedback from the voice of the heart.

    3. Somatic Inquiry—you can develop inner wisdom by exploring physical sensations, resistance in the body, and centers of pain. Your body offers a vast network of wisdom and holds the key to resolving painful mental, emotional, and trauma-related issues.

    4. Spiritual Inquiry—you can develop inner wisdom by exploring the voice of your soul. This might be through a spiritual or religious practice like prayer, contemplation, or meditation. You might also unlock the key to inner wisdom through experiences that open you to a sense of awe—like stargazing, being in nature, or holding a puppy.

  • By being present in the moment, paying attention to the sensory information in our environment (what you see, hear, smell, taste, and touch), you can learn to access your inner wisdom by tuning in to each of The Four Voices. Once you’re aware of the sensations of the moment, you get in touch with your inner wisdom by asking these four questions:

    1. What do I think? This leads you to the inner wisdom of the Mind Voice.

    2. What emotion do I feel? This leads you to the inner wisdom of the voice of the heart.

    3. What sensations am I experiencing in my body? This leads you to the inner wisdom of the Body Voice.

    4. What does my soul want? This leads you to the inner wisdom of your Soul Voice.

  • To be fair, the voice of your mind—the inner commentator, or Mind Voice—is only one aspect of your vast, complex and beautiful brain. However, for the purposes of this work, when I refer to the Mind Voice, I’m talking about the voice inside your head that’s often critical, judgmental, envious, full of rage, or ready to bolt.

The Mind Voice comes from a tiny part of the brain called the amygdala. The amygdalae are part of your limbic system. The limbic system, also known as the “reptilian brain” or the “emotional brain,” takes in information through your senses and attaches an emotion to it.

The amygdala serves as the triage master for all incoming information. Information comes in through the senses and those little amygdale go to work sorting and ranking the potential threats, determining whether you’re safe or at risk.

  • Here are four ways to develop your inner guidance system:

    1. Journaling. This is the best way to listen to the voice of your mind—your thoughts and beliefs. To use this as inner guidance, you don’t take your thoughts at face value, rather you determine the validity of the thought, whether it’s true or not, and imagine other possible beliefs that might be beneficial.

    2. Hands on heart. Use this practice to remind yourself that your emotions deserve your time and attention. They offer inner guidance by giving you genuine and real-time feedback from the voice of the heart.

    3. Yoga or any other quiet body-based practice. By paying attention to the physical feedback within a yoga pose, you can explore physical sensations, resistance in the body, and centers of pain. Your body holds the key to inner guidance.

    4. Prayer, meditation, or creative practice. You can find inner guidance through soul-based and spiritual practices. You might also unlock the key to inner guidance through experiences that open you to a sense of awe—like watching a sunset, listening to a baby laugh, or walking through a garden.
